Study Of Interaction of Glutathione, Vitamin C and Vitamin E Under Hyperbaric Oxygen
In order to study the interaction of glutathione, vitamin C and vitamin E under hyperoxia (95 % oxygen) and hyperbaric oxygen (2.5 atmospheric pressure), 20 days old male Guinea pigs were fed with basal vitamin C free diet, while receiving a vitamin C supplement of either high concentration (50 mg/day) or low concentration (1 mg/day) for two weeks. Animals were than exposed to hyperoxia and hyp...
متن کاملIsolated vitamin E deficiency and progressive ataxia.
A case of progressive spinocerebellar syndrome due to isolated vitamin E deficiency is reported. Measurement of the vitamin E concentration in serum should be included when investigating all children with unexplained, progressive ataxia, even in the absence of malabsorption. Replacement treatment in patients with a vitamin E deficiency can arrest or improve the associated neurological disorder.
متن کاملVitamin D deficiency and stroke
Vitamin D comprises a group of fat-soluble pro-hormones, obtained from sun exposure, food, and supplements, and it must undergo two hydroxylation reactions to be activated in the body. Several studies have shown the role of vitamin D in mineral metabolism regulation, especially calcium, phosphorus, and bone metabolism. Some factors such as inadequate vitamin intake and liver or kidney disorders...
متن کاملVitamin E Deficiency in the Monkey . Iv .
NEMIA regularly develops in the rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta) when it is deprived of vitamin E.1 The anemia is accompanied by granulocytosis,’ an increased concentration of bone marrow deoxyribonucleic acid,2 a reduction in the maximal Cr5’ survival time of the erythrocytes,3 a slightly elevated reticulocyte count1 and a prompt reticulocytosis following vitamin E administration. This combinati...
متن کاملVitamin E Deficiency in the Monkey
Eight young rhesus monkeys were fed a purified diet devoid of vitamin E. After from 6 to 13 months of feeding, all the animals developed signs of vitamin E deficiency. The signs of vitamin E deficiency in the monkey include muscular dystrophy, elevated excretion of creatine, allantoin, and free amino acids and decreased excretion of creatinine. The vitamin E-deficient monkeys all developed anem...
